Very, Very Bad News

Ernie has cancer again. It's abdominal cancer inside his intestines, and it's inoperable. It might not kill him, but because of it he can't eat or drink. He's lethargic, his eyes are sunken in, and he won't eat. I've been feeding him 100% juice from an old dropper thing, but it's not enough. According to the doctor, the cancer probably won't kill him but starvation will.

Drinky and I were considering letting him go naturally until we were told about how he'd just starve to death. No one, animal or not, should go through that.

Tonight's his last night. He's going to be running around on the floor and given all his favorite treats and food (bananas!). His toys are all in front of him and he's just quietly hanging out. He got so sick so fast, especially with how much better he was doing after the surgery. He's lost a LOT of weight very fast as well.

We're going to take him in tomorrow to be put to sleep. I cried a bunch at first but now my brain is trying to be very strong for Drinky and for Ernie.

I was hoping I'd just make a post about my new external harddrive, but it feels so insignifigant to what's going on right now.

I'm sorry to hear that. =( People always say, "Oh it's for the best" about this sort of thing, but that doesn't make it any less difficult.
Gah, that sucks. *e-hugs*
He'll be at peace during his last hours, though, so... that's really the best thing you can give him. He'll depart from this world knowing he was loved. That's all that matters, right?
On a previous convo about this, I was told he has been living quite a long life.
Not only that, but a life with some as sweet to him like Drinky. Someone who really cares for him for a long time and considered him to be a sweet companion and friend.
Altrough its horrible to hear such a thing, it was wonderful to see that he gave Ernie a sweet and long life, doing his best to provide so, and to the point he is charitable towards causes regarding similiar pets.

Bless you Ernie, for having and have had such wonderful people taking care of you with the most warm of love.

(Edit: I apologize for talking about Ernie in the past tense. rectified it.)
*snugs* really sorry to hear, especially since he was doing so well. Been here before, know its not easy. Best advise I can give, is just remember the good times and how much each of you brought to each other though out... and Ernie will always be around in your hearts.
Everything I can think to say has already been said better, so with apologies, I'll merely second the sentiments expressed above...but you're in my thoughts, all three of you.
Oh no, I'm so sorry for you guys. :( But like I told Josh earlier today, you know Ernie loves you guys very much and is probably so thankful that you guys have been doing your best to give him the best life possible, to the very end.

Internet hugs to you both. :C
I'm really sad to hear about this. Both you and Josh have done an exemplary job taking care of Ernie in his illness, and I was hoping the surgery would have solved everything.

I know there isn't anything anyone can say that can really help with this kind of thing, so I just want you to know you're all in my prayers.
So sorry to hear that :( I hope his end will be calm..
Geez, sorry to hear that about the little guy. At least you know you have lots of good memories from all of it.
You guys have done such a great job taking care of him. He's been extremely well-loved throughout his life, which is the best thing anyone, person or guinea pig, could ask for.
I'm sorry. :( You really put your all in for Ernie. He is very lucky to have had such loving folks taking care of him.
I'm really sorry to hear this, and I'll be thinking and wishing the best for you guys. It's been said before, but seriously, I don't think I've ever seen an animal so obviously loved and cared for as much as Ernie. There is no question that he lived his life to the fullest.
